An insightful new Security Council (SC) report circulating in the Kremlin today first noting President Putin is celebrating his 74th birthday by attending to official duties on 7 October, says this follows President Donald Trump declaring at a rally of his supporters last evening: “Believe it or not, does not look like it, but peace is actually getting closer...We haven’t ended Russia-Ukraine yet. I’m working on that one...That one I thought would be the easiest one for me...But we’ve ended eight wars, and that’s going to happen too, pretty soon”.
Along with President Trump declaring “peace is actually getting closer”, this report notes, Secretary of State Marco Rubio also revealed yesterday: “Ukraine’s admission to NATO is not on the table as we speak...Right now, we’re simply focused, when it comes to Ukraine, on the ending of this conflict”—a revelation that follows Secretary Rubio admitting: “Frankly, it’s a proxy war between nuclear powers, the United States helping Ukraine, and Russia”—and NATO member leader Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev warned yesterday: “If this war is not ended in time, it will continue to expand its spatial scope and increase the risk of even a global conflict”.
Also marked today, this report continues, is the third anniversary of the 7 October 2023 attacks on Israel, about which is factually documented: “Benjamin Netanyahu was personally alerted by the president of the United Arab Emirates that Hamas was planning a large-scale offensive against Israel a week before its 7 October 2023 attack, but did not act on the warning”—the Israeli media reported today: “In all, since the start of the war, the Israeli military said it has carried out strikes on approximately 100,000 targets, including 65,000 in the Gaza Strip, 28,000 in Lebanon and Syria, 4,500 in Iran, and 80 in Yemen”—and President Putin previously observed: “What is happening now in Gaza response to the well-known terrorist act in Israel, does not really look like a war...It is some kind of total destruction of the civilian population”.
