A gobsmacking new Security Council (SC) report circulating in the Kremlin today first notes Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said after his meeting with Vatican Secretary of State Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher yesterday: “I am glad to welcome my colleague back to Moscow...The last time we met here was in November 2021...We noted with satisfaction that, against the background of the fundamental changes in the geopolitical situation that have taken place during this period, relations between the Russian Federation and the Vatican remain trustworthy, friendly and pragmatic..We welcome the upcoming meeting between the Secretary of the Holy See and Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate's Department for External Church Relations”.
Archbishop Gallagher, this report notes, is in charge of the Vatican diplomatic service, formally known as the diplomacy of the Holy See, that is widely regarded by intelligence experts as one of the world's most effective covert intelligence networks—the principal intelligence service of the Holy See, the governing body of the Catholic Church and the Vatican City State, is “The Entity”, also known as the Servizio di Intelligence Vaticano—and it was observed about his sudden visit to Moscow:
