A compelling new Security Council (SC) report circulating in the Kremlin today first noting President Donald Trump posted the war threat early this morning: “Assuming Iran agrees to give what has been agreed to, which is, perhaps, a big assumption, the already legendary Epic Fury will be at an end, and the highly effective Blockade will allow the Hormuz Strait to be OPEN TO ALL, including Iran... If they don’t agree, the bombing starts, and it will be, sadly, at a much higher level and intensity than it was before”, says this war threat followed Secretary of State Marco Rubio announcing at the White House yesterday: “Operation Epic Fury is over...We’re done with that stage of it...The United States has shifted to a defensive posture focused more on restoring commercial passage through the Strait of Hormuz...This is not an offensive operation...There’s no shooting unless we’re shot at first”.
Following President Trump launching his “Project Freedom” operation to free the 2,000 ships trapped by the dual American-Iran blockade of the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, this report notes, the global intelligence firm Kpler revealed yesterday: “Commodity ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz fell this week to its lowest level since the beginning of the war despite a brief US attempt to reopen the strategic waterway”—and was a revelation quickly followed by President Trump posting the announcement: “Based on the request of Pakistan and other Countries, the tremendous Military Success that we have had during the Campaign against the Country of Iran and, additionally, the fact that Great Progress has been made toward a Complete and Final Agreement with Representatives of Iran, we have mutually agreed that, while the Blockade will remain in full force and effect, Project Freedom (The Movement of Ships through the Strait of Hormuz) will be paused for a short period of time to see whether or not the Agreement can be finalized and signed”.
The “other countries” referenced by President Trump in his announcement pausing the failed Project Freedom operation, this report continues, are led by China, which yesterday hosted Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi for talks in Beijing—were talks that saw Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi forcefully declaring that the American-Israeli war on Iran is “illegitimate” and warning: “We believe that a comprehensive ceasefire is urgently needed, that a resumption of hostilities is not acceptable, and that it is particularly important to remain committed to dialogue and negotiations”—and was a warning followed by Axios exclusively revealing today: “The White House believes it's getting close to an agreement with Iran on a one-page memorandum of understanding to end the war and set a framework for more detailed nuclear negotiations”.
In response to China forcefully moving President Trump towards peace as the only option to end the Iran War, this report concludes, Board Member Amir Handjani at the top American foreign policy think tank Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft observed: “Tehran and Beijing are aligning their interests before Trump’s summit with Xi Jinping”—and in responding to a media inquiry on whether the Chinese side could provide specific timing and details regarding President Trump’s visit to China, it saw Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian saying today: “You may stay tuned”.
