A forewarning new Security Council (SC) report circulating in the Kremlin today first noting Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to discuss the situation in the Persian Gulf War Zone, says this call followed President Donald Trump postponing his threatened bombing of Iran's power grid because of what he described as productive talks with an unidentified Iranian official, shortly after which Reuters revealed: “An Israeli official and two other sources familiar with the matter said the interlocutor on the Iranian side talking with President Trump was Iran's powerful parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf”.
In response to both President Trump and Reuters, this report notes, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf declared: “No negotiations have been held with the US, and fake news is used to manipulate the financial and oil markets and escape the quagmire in which the US and Israel are trapped”—a declaration followed by the Iranian military warning: “We negotiate with enemies with impact-driven strikes”, then it launched its “78th wave” of missile and drone strikes against American and Israeli targets—and Iranian Supreme Leader military spokesman Mohsen Rezaei proclaimed: ”The war will continue until all damages to Iran are compensated and sanctions on it are lifted...Also, we want international guarantees of US non-interference in the Islamic Republic’s internal affairs - this is a decision of our country’s people, Supreme Leader, and armed forces”.
As the price of oil climbed back above $100 as optimism fades over an Iran war de-escalation, this report continues, its price was further jolted by the news: “A massive explosion ripped through the Valero oil refinery in Port Arthur, Texas on Monday, sending a towering column of black smoke over the city and triggering an emergency response across Jefferson County”—and American energy experts warningly observed today: “A month ago, any analyst suggesting international oil prices could soar all the way to $200 per barrel would have been laughed out of the studio...Now, some are beginning to acknowledge that this is a real possibility”.
With American economists having already grimly assessed: “If oil prices hit $200 per barrel, the national average for gasoline could exceed $6.50–$7.00 per gallon...At $200 per barrel, over $400 billion in discretionary spending could vanish, severely impacting sectors like retail, travel, and hospitality...Oil at $200 per barrel could push headline inflation above 7–8%, levels not seen since the 2022 crisis...Projections indicate that $200 oil could shrink U.S. Real GDP by 1.5% to 2.5%... Industries that rely heavily on energy, such as chemicals, plastics, and steel, would see their profit margins collapse”, this report details, it came as no surprise to see the New York Times revealing yesterday: “Senior military officials are weighing a possible deployment of a combat brigade from the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division and some elements of the division’s headquarters staff to support U.S. military operations in Iran...The combat forces would come from a brigade of about 3,000 soldiers capable of deploying anywhere in the world within 18 hours”.
In sharp contrast to the New York Times revealing the possibility of President Trump deploying some American combat forces into the Iran war, this report concludes, world-renowned retired CIA analyst Larry Johnson, in his just released open letter “Looks Like Donald Trump Is Serious About Putting US Boots On The Ground In Iran”, warningly documented the tens-of-thousands of American forces being deployed to invade Iran as soon as this weekend, and noted that President Trump has canceled all of his public events previously scheduled during this time.
