Ukraine End Game” Follows “Good Times For Military-Industrial Complex

By: Sorcha Faal, and as reported to her Western Subscribers

An informative new Security Council (SC) report circulating in the Kremlin today first notes Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu revealing this morning: “Ukraine has lost over 13,700 troops and approximately 1,800 tanks and other heavy weaponry so far this month...Russian forces have been actively thwarting Kiev’s attempts to breach their defensive lines and continue to reduce Ukraine’s military capacity...Ukrainian soldiers are also surrendering in droves after realizing the futility of their counteroffensive”.

Without acknowledging his nation’s staggering battlefield losses, this report notes, socialist Western colonial corrupt puppet leader Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on Sunday evening sacked Medical Forces Commander Major-General Tatyana Ostashchenko declaring about her: “There is little time left to wait for results...Quick action is needed for forthcoming changes...The Ukrainian military needs a fundamentally new level of medical support”—a declaration followed yesterday by Secretary Aleksey Danilov of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council telling the annual conference of the Halifax International Security Forum, a Washington, DC-based pressure group funded in part by the Canadian government, via a video link: ”Ukraine is concerned by the fact that discussions among certain partners have intensified regarding the need for negotiations, consultations, meetings with the Russians to discuss the issues of the war in Ukraine, a ceasefire, etc.”.

Quickly following Secretary Danilov voicing his concerns about the socialist Western colonial powers intensifying efforts to end their failed Ukraine proxy war against Russia, this report continues, United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin showed up unannounced in Kiev yesterdayGerman Defense Minister Boris Pistorius then showed up unannounced in Kiev this morningand after Washington announced a paltry $100 million military aid package for Ukraine yesterday, it caused Russian Ambassador Anatoly Antonov to the United States to factually observe: “The message about another American arms supply to the regime is nothing more but a sedative pill prepared by overseas benefactors for Zelensky...The newly announced deadly gift is designed to convince Ukrainian officials that they are still in the game and masters count on them...The situation on the front and in the Ukrainian state institutions is on the verge of complete collapse”.

To block any chances of the socialist Western colonial powers getting Russia to agree on talks of any kind, this report details, Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk proclaimed yesterday: “Ukraine is not willing to recognize its Russian population as an ethnic minority or grant it any corresponding rights...Kiev has reached full understanding on this issue with the European Union”—a racist proclamation quickly followed by the horrifying news: “A group of men wearing khakis broke into a Ukrainian Orthodox Church monastery on Monday in what the diocese described as the latest in a string of raids on its property...Police and Ukrainian nationalists reportedly assisted in the violent seizure”—all of which was joined by former Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov warning: “According to the most modest calculations, only 19 million continue to live in the territory controlled by the regime in Kiev...It’s a scary figure”.

With the nasty “Muddy Season” having now arrived in Ukraine, which NATO vehicles can’t deal with, but is no obstacle for Russian military armor, this report notes, the just released Wall Street Journal article “Tired Ukrainian Troops Fight To Hold Back Russian Offensive” cites a Ukrainian solider grimly revealing: “We don’t have a chance playing war-of-exhaustion with Russia...We need a fundamental change in our army”—a grim revelation joined by the just released American defense article “Ukraine End Game: Putin & Medvedev Discuss Maps, Putting Kiev On The Menu”, wherein it assessed: “Things are so bad it is hard to know where to begin...What is striking about the current state of play is not simply that Ukraine is losing the war with Russia, and it’s just a matter of time before Russia dictates terms, but that the Ukraine government is acting in ways that benefits the Russian military, to the destruction of what is left of its society and economy”.

As to why Ukraine needs an “end game” before it's totally destroyed, this report concludes, is because the American peoples failed to heed President Dwight Eisenhower warning them during his farewell address on 17 January 1961: “In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex...The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist”—they failed to heed President Jimmy Carter warning them in 2019: “The United States is the most warlike nation in the history of the world due to a desire to impose American values on other countries”—they still fail to heed the Brown University warnings issued by its Cost Of War Project, that today reveals: “The U.S. federal price tag for the post-9/11 wars is over $8 trillion”—but are warnings, most certainly heeded by the world-renowned American realist think tank Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, that in its just released document “Good Times For The Military-Industrial Complex” observes:

The New York Times headline said it all: “Middle East War Adds to Surge in International Arms Sales”.

The conflicts in Gaza, Ukraine, and beyond may be causing immense and unconscionable human suffering, but they are also boosting the bottom lines of the world’s arms manufacturers.

There was a time when such weapons sales at least sparked talk of “the merchants of death” or of “war profiteers”.  Now, however, is distinctly not that time, given the treatment of the industry by the mainstream media and the Washington establishment, as well as the nature of current conflicts.

Mind you, the American arms industry already dominates the international market in a staggering fashion, controlling 45% of all such sales globally, a gap only likely to grow more extreme in the rush to further arm allies in Europe and the Middle East in the context of the ongoing wars in those regions.

In his nationally televised address about the Israel-Hamas and Russia-Ukraine wars, President Biden described the American arms industry in remarkably glowing terms, noting that, “just as in World War II, today patriotic American workers are building the arsenal of democracy and serving the cause of freedom”.

From a political and messaging perspective, the president cleverly focused on the workers involved in producing such weaponry rather than the giant corporations that profit from arming Israel, Ukraine, and other nations at war.  But profit they do and, even more strikingly, much of the revenues that flow to those firms is pocketed as staggering executive salaries and stock buybacks that only boost shareholder earnings further.

Repression Enabled, Democracy Denied

Over the years, far from being a reliable arsenal of democracy, American arms manufacturers have often helped undermine democracy globally, while enabling ever greater repression and conflict — a fact largely ignored in recent mainstream coverage of the industry.

For example, in a 2022 report for the Quincy Institute, of the 46 then-active conflicts globally, 34 involved one or more parties armed by the United States.

The list of major human rights abusers that receive U.S.-supplied weaponry is long and includes (but isn’t faintly limited to) Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Egypt, Turkey, Nigeria, and the Philippines.  Such sales can have devastating human consequences.  They also support regimes that all too often destabilize their regions and risk embroiling the United States directly in conflicts.

U.S.-supplied arms also far too regularly fall into the hands of Washington’s adversaries.

Now, the industry is promoting efforts to get weapons out the door ever more quickly through “reforms” to the Foreign Military Sales program in which the Pentagon essentially serves as an arms broker between those weapons corporations and foreign governments.

The impetus to move ever more quickly on arms exports and so further supersize this country’s already staggering weapons manufacturing base will only lead to yet more price gouging by arms corporations.

Yes, your tax dollars are being squandered in the rush to build and sell ever more weaponry abroad.

Worse yet, for every arms transfer that serves a legitimate defensive purpose, there is another — not to say others — that fuels conflict and repression, while only increasing the risk that, as the giant weapons corporations and their executives make fortunes, this country will become embroiled in more costly foreign conflicts.

Praising the U.S. arms industry as the “arsenal of democracy” obscures the numerous ways it undermines our security and wastes our tax dollars.

Rather than romanticizing the military-industrial complex, isn’t it time to place it under greater democratic control?

After all, so many lives depend on it.
