A thought-provoking new Security Council (SC) report circulating in the Kremlin today first noting President Putin signed a decree on changing the composition of the Human Rights Commission, says this move was followed by United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres saying he welcomed “the agreement by all parties” to prolong the Black Sea Grain Initiative, and factually observed: “The initiative demonstrates the importance of discreet diplomacy in finding multilateral solutions”.
At the same time Secretary General Guterres was extolling “the importance of discreet diplomacy”, this report notes, Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia warned the United Nations Security Council about the Ukraine lying claim that a Russian missile struck Poland, with him stating: “I underscore that such claims are made by the person who cannot but be well aware that it had been a Ukrainian air defense missile that hit the territory of Poland...This was a conscious attempt to drag NATO, which is waging a war by proxy on Russia in Ukraine, into a direct confrontation with our country”—a statement quickly joined by the Financial Times in London citing an unnamed diplomat from a NATO country observing: “This is getting ridiculous...The Ukrainians are destroying our confidence in them...Nobody is blaming Ukraine and they are openly lying...This is more destructive than the missile”—an observation from this unnamed NATO diplomat swiftly followed by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky toning down his claims that a Russian missile was responsible for the deaths of two people in a Polish village near the border with Ukraine, and stated: “I don’t know what happened this time…We do not know for a 100%”.
After toning down his lying claims in an attempt to ignite a war between Russia and NATO, this report continues, President Zelensky acknowledged that Kiev’s socialist Western colonial backers have been speaking to him about the possibility of peace talks with Moscow, and then ranted: “I had received signals from state leaders, who said: 'We think Putin wants direct negotiations'...And I said: 'We will offer a public format for the talks because Russia is waging a public war against Ukraine'...I’m ready to recommend such a format...I’ll discuss with my colleagues how to do it...But we do not want to have any backstage contact with Russia”—in immediate response to this rant, top Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov factually observed: “It’s hard to imagine public negotiations...Such a thing doesn’t exist...One thing is obvious: the Ukrainian side doesn’t want any talks”—a factual observation joined by the Foreign Ministry stating: “Russia has not changed the position that it is open to negotiations – unlike Kiev, which first requested negotiations, then abandoned them, and now is ready to renew them but is putting forward inappropriate preconditions...Kiev’s new idea of ‘public’ negotiations, which is an attempt to turn diplomacy into a TV show, proves the unseriousness of its intentions”.
