America Calls For Foreign Mercenaries As War Enters 5^th Year

As the United States war against the Muslim peoples of the World enters its 5^th year this weekend, and as the American Defense Chief, Robert Gates, warns his countrymen that they will be involved in war for ‘decades to come’, the vast American war machine has now turned to Foreign Mercenaries to fill its vastly undermanned ranks.

For many years the warning calls have been sounded that the US Military has reached it’s ‘breaking point’, and as we can read as reported by the BBC News Service:

"The US military has become dangerously overstretched because of the scale of its operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, two reports have warned. One, by former officials in the Clinton administration, said the pressure of repeated deployments was very corrosive and could have long-term effects."

Even more troubling for the Americans, according to one of their Military Historians and senior fellow of the National Security Studies group at the Council on Foreign Relations, Max Boot, is that their soldiers are now ‘losing the will to fight’, and as he states:

"Our (US) will is perhaps [at] the point of breaking in Iraq, whereas the enemy is willing to suffer much heavier casualties and keep on fighting. Clearly, the will to win is a major aspect of it."

Further evidence of the deterioration of the once powerful US Military into a ruthless barbaric fighting force has emerged from many human rights groups around the World, including Human Rights Watch, and who have reported:

"The United States has a flagrant record of violating the Geneva Convention in systematically abusing prisoners during the Iraqi War and the War in Afghanistan, says the Human Rights Record of the United States in 2006 issued on Thursday.

A report released in News Night of British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), originally provided by the U.S.-based Human Rights First, showed that since August 2002, 98 prisoners had died in American-run prisons in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Among the dead, 34 died of premeditated murder, 11 deaths were suspicious, and 8 to 12 were tortured to death, according to an AFP report on Feb. 21, 2006.

A Human Rights Watch report in July 2006 said torture and other abuses against detainees in U.S. custody in Iraq were authorized and routine.

Detainees were routinely subject to severe beating, painful stress positions, severe sleep deprivation, and exposure to extreme cold and hot temperatures. Soldiers were told that many abusive techniques were authorized by the military chain of command and Geneva Conventions did not apply to the detainees at their facility.

Detainees at Camp Nama, a U.S. detention center at the Baghdad airport- in violation of international law- not registered with the International Committee of the Red Cross, were regularly stripped naked and subject to beatings.

Some detainees were used for target practice. In May 2006 human rights group Amnesty International condemned the detention of some 14,000 prisoners in Iraq without charge or trial."

The depravity of their ever expanding World War are, likewise, taking a heavy toll among the soldiers of the American War Machine, and as we can read as reported by the PFS News Service in their article titled "Horrors of the War on Terror Make US Soldiers Go Insane", and which says:

"A new study published by the Archives of Internal Medicine shows that mental health disorders or psychosocial ills have hit a third of the US soldiers that have returned from Afghanistan or Iraq.

The study from the Archives of Internal Medicine shows that a third of all US soldiers returning from the wars in Afghanistan or Iraq have received treatments from the Veterans Affairs between 2001 and 2005 for mental illnesses or other psychosocial disorders.

Published on March 12, the study showed Veterans of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom (OEF/OIF) have endured high combat stress and are eligible for 2 years of free military service–related health care through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health care system. The research was conducted by scientists from the University of California, San Francisco and the San Francisco VA Medical Center on 103 788 US veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, which were seen at the Department of Veterans Affairs facilities."

The American War Leaders, and in an effort to bolster their flagging War Machine, have now taken to recruiting tens of thousands of Foreign Mercenaries with offers of US Citizenship in exchange for war duty, and as we can read about in this report:

"Born in Evora, Portugal, Lopes enlisted in the U.S. Marines as a Portuguese citizen, earning the nickname Euroguy in his platoon's radio transmissions when he served in Iraq as a lance corporal two years ago. This week, 23 years after his family brought him as baby to Rhode Island, Lopes finally took the naturalization oath, taking advantage of laws that speed up the citizenship process for military personnel.

Lopes, 25, is one of about 69,000 foreign-born people in the military. About 40,000 of them are not citizens. With the armed forces straining to recruit and retain troops to fight wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, non-citizens make up a small but essential pool of potential soldiers, government officials and experts said.

A 2005 study by the Center for Naval Analysis found that non-citizens are less likely to drop out of the military shortly after enlisting than citizens are and that they are significantly less likely to drop out after three years.

For non-citizens, joining the military offers significant incentives. Under an executive order signed by President Bush shortly after the 2001 attacks, anyone with one day of active-duty military service is eligible for citizenship."

To the severe, and long-term, implications of an army filled with Foreign Mercenaries the American people themselves have been left out of these decisions by their War Leaders.

But, to the effects upon the American people when these Foreign Mercenaries are turned loose in the United States, to uphold laws they know nothing about, to support a Nation they in fact despise, only then will the full, and horrific, implications of the recruitment, and use, of Foreign Mercenaries be fully felt.
